MEXICO guide
If this is your first time traveling outside of the country with your kids and you want to ease into things, Mexico is the perfect destination. Most big cities have direct flights to CUN airport and since a lot of the surrounding areas are supported by tourism, a lot of locals are very helpful with navigation.
Chichén Itzá
If you’re visiting the Riviera Maya, you cannot make this trip without visiting the World Wonder Chichén Itzá. We rented a car and made the 3 hour drive from Playa Del Carmen and spent the night at Hotel Mesón del Marqués. The next morning we were up bright and early to avoid the crowds and the heat at this historic site.
COST: Adult $24 USD Child (3-12) $4USD
*Tip: Avoid Sundays as locals have free admission and it can get packed.
Beach day in Playa del carmen
After breakfast we spent half of the day at Encanto Beach. It was only a short walk from our Airbnb. I picked up sand buckets when I got our groceries from a nearby WALMART. We made it back to our room in time to cook a late lunch and the kids slept wonderfully that night.
Day Pass at a resort Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon Resort was highly recommended however we needed other accommodations with a kitchen for our dietary needs. If this is your case and you want to pay a fraction of the price to try it out go to their site and give them a call to confirm prices. They are first come so be prepared to be there early in the morning and also get your monies worth.
Swim with Dolphins
This was a great experience for our 4 year old. I stayed on the sidelines with our 1 year old and was able to take pictures and a couple of videos. Download a zoom app because you will be far away or be prepared to pay for the photo package.
Cost: Adult $40 Child $40 (age/height restrictions)
