Southwest Companion Pass

We have scored two Southwest Companion passes through the Rapid Rewards Credit Card program. Which means our kids can fly with us as many times as we want throughout the year. They don’t have blackout dates like some other programs. You will have to pay taxes which are $5.60 per way on domestic flights and the international taxes vary and are normally around $100-150 RT✈️ I’m sending you my referral link + you’ll get Companion Status through 2/28/25 and 30,000 points after you reach the minimum spend of $4,000 in the first 3 months.

Why I consider Southwest the best domestic airline for families.

  1. 2 Free Checked Bags: in a world where all airlines decided they were all going to start charging for bags. Southwest has remained true to free bags. Now I’m still team carryon but I totally understand wanting to pack all your kids comfort items to make the traveling experience more smooth.

  2. No blackout dates/no change fees: we’ve definitely had to reschedule a trip or two however Southwest is the only airline that takes the hassle out of it. Having this flexibility with the kids is a money saver + we don’t feel the stress of having to take a trip for the fear of losing our money.

  3. Family boarding: now a lot of people complain how you can’t reserve seats on Southwest but I feel like their system is fair… especially allowing families to board sooner with a greater chance of sitting together. 🤞🏾 ps we’ve never had to split up.
